PvZ Gender Benders-Fog

Description

This is partially a gift art for PrincessKittyMae who made an awesome gender-bender of Crazy Dave. But this time, I decided to do gender benders of all the characters encountered on the fog levels:
ZOMBIES:
Female Jack In The Box Zombie (aka Jackie) is probably the most similar to her male counterpart. She has a lot of the same traits-unbuckled straitjacket, wild eyes, and of course-the exploding jack in the box. However, I decided to differentiate her from the original by adding eyelashes, and most strikingly-a tangled mane of stringy brown hair that hangs down to her thighs. She was the easiest one to do so far, in my opinion. I was going to make her have some long strands of hair (but most of it worn off from decay), but I preferred to draw her with wild hair because the unkempt, scrappy look of it made her look even more creepy. I'm not sure the jack in the box came out the best-the stars painted on the sides are a bit too small and hard to see.
Female Balloon Zombie (aka Betsy)? Well, I had to get a little more creative. Balloon Zombie himself is a baldy, and I was going to give the distaff version brown hair, but for some reason, I always thought that a female version of him would be a blonde. To me, Balloon Zombie just strikes me as one of those immature, childish adults that still acts like a kid (because he flies on a big birthday balloon and wears a propeller hat), so I wanted to make Miss Balloon Zombie look a bit juvenile by giving her pigtails and a cutesy-poo blouse, because she most likely was one of those grown ladies who still dressed like a little kid before she turned undead and evil. I also changed the sneaker to a Mary Jane shoe because these kind of shoes I commonly associate with a childish appearance, and I was going to add crudely-applied lipstick, but I thought that that was a bit much.
Then there's Female Digger Zombie (aka Dinah-Mae), who I think came out alright but not my best. Also my drama teacher cracked up when I showed him this. I wanted to keep the "grungy coal miner" theme of the original, but I decided to make her outfit a bit more feminized by changing the overalls to one of those jumper dress things. I was initially going to make the shirt pink, but that didn't feel right because I wanted to minimize her femininity here (while still making it clear that she is female). Also, I decided to draw her hair braided, and I wanted to make her look physically like she's accustomed to hard, dirty work. And because I was going for as close to the original as possible, I decided to make her rather dowdy and thick-bodied, even including a few hairs growing out of her huge meaty arms.
Female Pogo Zombie (aka Veronica) is by far my favorite. Since the original Pogo Zombie has a bit of a tough-guy look to him, I wanted his distaff counterpart to keep the motif and have a look that appears to be a hybrid of punk and Goth. Miss Pogo Zombie has that nasty kind of hairstyle that's left normal on one side and shaved off on the other (although it's hard to tell, but take my word for it), and she has the little studs in her ears, too. I changed her pogo stick from red to pink because it just felt more, you know, female, and I also decided to add purple eye shadow, some relatively thick black eyeliner, and black lipstick. Not to mention that I also kept the big elbow-length tattoo on her arm that her male counterpart has in the game-it only made sense for Pogo to be a very inked-up zombie. And since he also wears rectangular glasses, I felt that they should be changed to those pointed harlequin glasses that nearly all the girls with eye-wear in my drawings seem to have. Personally, if it weren't for the fact that she's bald on the right side of her head, she'd be the least ugly female zombie on here. :)
PLANTS:
I really had no idea what to do with most of the plants for this one. Gender benders of the zombies are far easier to make because they are humanoid (despite being supernatural) and wear clothing. So for the female versions of the plants, I just added some leaves resembling hair and flowers in the appropriate spots. But I do have to say that the male version of Cactus came out adorable. All I really did was replace his distaff counterpart's lovely cactus blossom with a cowboy hat, as we tend to associate cacti and cowboys with the American West. I think it's just me, but I think that he reminds me of this one character from a VBS we did at my church a long time ago...we had some Western-themed VBS or something. :)
